Mad & Kaffe in Lyngby is a neighbourhood café celebrated for its warmth, morning buzz and the kind of atmosphere that invites people to stay. When ATM All That Matters Design Studio set out to shape the interior, the ambition was clear: create a space that felt vibrant and expressive, yet calm enough for guests to enjoy a conversation without competing with the surrounding noise. Achieving that balance required an acoustic solution that blended seamlessly with the café’s tactile and colourful design language.
Akuart contributed with a curated selection of Supersonic Wall Panel Artwork, strategically placed throughout the café to support the acoustic environment while adding depth and visual coherence. The artwork, a mix of bespoke pieces and selected works by Berit Mogensen Lopez from the Akuart Gallery, strengthens the material narrative of the space and introduces a graphic warmth that complements ATM’s interior concept.
Beyond its immediate acoustic and aesthetic impact, the solution is intentionally long-lasting. The changeable canvas system allows the café to refresh its look over time, whether the interior evolves, colours shift, or a new visual direction emerges, without replacing the panels themselves. This flexibility ensures the installation remains relevant and future-proof while maintaining its acoustic performance.
“When we began shaping the interior for Mad & Kaffe Lyngby, our goal was to create a café that could be both a vibrant meeting place inside the mall and a calm, welcoming spot where guests want to stay. Acoustics played a huge role in achieving that balance. Akuart’s panels with integrated artwork did exactly what we needed. They became a beautiful focal point while quietly taking care of the sound. The space now feels warm, tactile and comfortably refined, just as we imagined. It is one of those rare moments where design and technical performance come together perfectly.”
– Alexandra Raben-Levetzau, Interior Director at ATM
By pairing high-performing absorption with an elevated artistic expression, the panels reduce noise levels during busy service hours and enhance the soft, social atmosphere that defines Mad & Kaffe. The integration of colour, art and sound control not only improves comfort but becomes an essential part of the guest experience, creating a dining environment where sound, art and design work together naturally. Guests can enjoy conversation without disturbance, even during weekend rushes, while the artwork becomes part of their visual memory of the space.
Mad & Kaffe in Kongens Lyngby stands as a thoughtful example of how acoustic solutions can shape not just comfort, but the emotional character of an interior and result in a café that feels soft, social and unmistakably inviting.
